THE EUDR IS COMING
The EUDR has come into force, marking an important step in the EU's efforts to reduce global deforestation and degradation. The Act was passed on June 29, 2023, and will be enforced on December 30, 2024, with far-reaching implications for global supply chains. The EUDR aims to reduce the EU's contribution to global deforestation and degradation by restricting the supply and export of products related to deforestation and degradation on the EU market. The EUDR covers seven commodities, including soybeans, beef, palm oil, wood, cocoa, coffee and rubber. These products are directly or indirectly linked to deforestation and degradation.
To ensure smooth implementation of the regulations, the EUDR provides an 18-month transition period for companies to adjust their supply chains and operating models to comply with the new regulations. During the transition period, companies need to develop detailed due diligence systems to assess risks in the supply chain and ensure product traceability.
The implementation of EUDR has had a significant impact on the global supply chain. First, companies need to ensure the sustainability of their products and supply chains to avoid market access barriers they face as a result of breaches. Second, the implementation of regulations will drive a green transformation of global supply chains, promoting more sustainable production and consumption patterns. Finally, the EUDR will also strengthen international cooperation to jointly address the challenges of global deforestation and degradation
Spurred by the EUDR, many businesses are already taking action. For example, AnHui Kailai packaging Co., Ltd are closely monitoring the progress of the EUDR and developing countermeasures accordingly. They work more closely with suppliers to ensure that the raw materials they purchase meet regulatory requirements. At the same time, they also strengthen internal management and supervision to ensure product traceability and compliance.
AnHui KaiLai Packaging Co.,Ltd are plan to take advantage of the opportunity of EUDR to promote their own green transformation and sustainable development.
